Since 1992, I have focused on individual and group image development through hypnosis, guided imagery, and deep spirituality. I find this useful not only for individual needs, but also as a way of walking organizations and companies through transitional moments, to regain their focus, and to develop a shared vision.

I am credentialed:

  • as a Consulting Hypnotist (CH) through the National Guild of Hypnotists
  • as a spiritual director (SD) through Sacred Journey School of Spiritual Companioning

I hold:

  • a BS in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois
  • an MA in pastoral care and local theology from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago

My sensitivity to each and every client’s needs is reflected in my attention to the details of life:

  • In what culture do you live, work, play?
  • What is your culture of origin?
  • When and where did you grow up?
  • How do you see yourself?
  • How are you seen by others?
  • And, most importantly, what, if anything, do you want to do about things if your vision does not match your reality?

Undergirding most of these questions is a fine balance between your personal spirituality, i.e. that one thing in which you put your absolute trust, and that of your environment.

I relate to some 42 different religious traditions, agnosticism, atheism, humanist, pagan, and a host of lifestyles, providing a deep spirituality that speaks to peoples across their religious and cultural boundaries. That spirituality allows me to work with individuals, groups, and communities regardless of their origins or experience because I take the time to understand the symbols, language, and vision of those people.

  • I provide powerful methods for addressing issues of stress, focus, and concentration.
  • I provide those going through transformational moments in their lives the techniques to arrive at the other side intact.
  • I provide the pathways to shared vision, improved personal image, and a deeper sense of spirituality.
  • In essence, I provide hope.

Change your mind and change your life.

A brief interview with Michael J Murschel, MA, CH, SD, Well-being Practitioner:

“Actually, I dislike the word ‘change’. It implies too much uncertainty and effort. ‘Positive transformation’ is a far better phrase. It means that things just get better.

Hypnosis is perhaps the most powerful means for instilling lasting transformation in most people. Think of your mind as the operating system of a computer. Hypnosis merely alters that system, that program, to run with a different set of actions. Often, you don’t even realize those transformations are working because they do so in the background. The happen automatically, in the background, naturally, normally, and comfortably.

I practice a highly effective form of transpersonal hypnosis, one which blends hypnosis into deep spirituality, that area of life we all encounter and in which we find that ultimate element in which we put our full confidence and trust.

And you are always in control of the process from start to finish. I always go over everything we will do in hypnosis with you ahead of time. I take the time to get to know you. The words you use. Your patterns of speech. What you like and don’t like. Your background. Your goals. Your needs.

Then, together, we map out a plan of action for each and every hypnosis session. I always keep my sessions with you positive and affirming. You are always in control. I practice a highly clinical form of hypnosis and never engage in anything even resembling stage or performance hypnosis. For me, the art and practice of hypnosis has only one function: getting you to where and who you want and need to be in the most secure and effective way.

Many of the issues I work with can be effectively handled in a few sessions. Some, like weight management, take longer simply because of keeping you within healthy bounds for weight loss. In fact, even if you are already in a weight program, hypnosis can help you establish a mindset for success, and one that will continue long after your other program is completed, allowing you to continue with all of the information you used in that.

Some of the issues I work with include:

  • Empowerment
  • Chronic Pain and Illness
  • Grief
  • Stress Reduction
  • Relaxation
  • Peak Performance
  • Memory Improvement
  • Disarming Self-Sabotage
  • Weight Management
  • Self-Image
  • Dental Issues
  • Sports
  • Pre- and Post-Surgery
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Spirituality
  • and many more . . .

Several of these relate directly to employee wellness programs and can be offered in office settings.

Everyone has a vision of how their life should be; the easiest way to unlock that vision is by discovering the right key.

Guided imagery is just that: a key, a technique, a modality, a form of active meditation and imagination that leads you through a process designed to take you from where your attitude is to where you want your attitude to be.

Through the use of language, imagery, music, key concepts, and deep relaxation, I guide you, your mind and spirit, to that place inside yourself from which all your attitudes and aptitudes spring. I connect you with them. I empower you to use them. I direct you to the course you have designed for yourself which meets and surpasses your vision of success.

This is a modality which can be used for anything from confidence building to peak performance, from reconciling key issues in your life to adapting to the needs of others, and from planning to action.

It is especially powerful and effective because I design your experience with your background and personality in mind.
